Bridal Beauty Tips & TricksProm is just around the corner, girls! I'm sure that you're all excited about looking your best on this special night - hair, makeup, the perfect jewelry, the perfect dress. With this much planning we know that you are going to look gorgeous. Still thinking about the perfect hair style? Check out these tips from Latrice Strader, master hair stylist and owner of Destiny De've, a salon and spa based in Washington, D.C.. From my own experience, you want something sophisticated and chic, not the same princess hairstyle you would have picked as a kindergarten and not the flowers and frump that your grandmothers loves so much. I have to hand it to Ms. Strader, the tips take you step-by-step for how to prepare for your styling experience, pick the best accessory, and maintain your own personal style. Take a look, and keep them in mind as you approach your special day! Tips and tricks of Fancy Hair up-dos: 1. No more "Lather, Rinse, Repeat!" - It's easier for stylists to manipulate hair that is a day or two "old" (ie unwashed) than hair recently scrubbed clean. The natural oils help your hair hold curls or up-dos styling much easier. 2. Be Prepared to Strip - Wear button-down shirts or scoop-necked T's when you go to the stylist: you don't want to spend an hour on the perfect up-do, then have to navigate a sweater over your careful coiffure! 3. Styling from H to T - The best hairstyle is based not just on your face, but the entire package. If your dress is high-necked, you want your hair pulled back. If you have a strapless dress, you want a half-up/half-down style with a few loose curls. 4. Accessorizing is your Friend - Don't be afraid of a well-placed accessory. Think chic, Jackie O accessory, not the plastic barrettes and glitter of your childhood. A silver headband or sophisticated flower will keep you looking fresh. 5. Be Yourself! - A beautiful you, indeed, but stay true to you! If you wouldn't dare wear glitter clips in your hair, tell your hairstylist. If you love blue, tell your stylist. It's all about communication. Which brings us to our final point: 6. Talk about it! If you aren't 100% happy with your style, tell your stylist! You are paying for something special, and that something special is personalized to you and your happiness and taste. |
